I’m Salwa Petersen. Growing up in Chad, my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother showed me the traditional Chébé rituaI passed down through millenia in my family, to achieve long, strong and luxurious hair. After graduating from Harvard and spending years in product development for the biggest names in beauty, bringing many bestselling products to market, I launched Salwa Petersen to help contemporary women and men discover the benefits of this ritual. After four years of research and development with my team of chemists and hairstylists we created the first 100% natural, proprietary extract of heirloom, organic Chébé seeds clinically-proven to support longer, stronger and softer hair. We released the first collection of clean and affordable hair products infused with our proprietary extract to take you from wash day to styling through treatment– combining the best of ancient wisdom with modern science and salon expertise. salwa petersen shares the gift of chébé with the all the curlies, coilies, wavies of the world while making sure that we give back to chébé’s home country in every way possible. the chadian women who harvest and sort our organic, heirloom chébé seeds from our farm are paid european salaries, that is 5 times the minimum local wage. from day one, 1% of all proceeds support national parks in chad with ngo african parks network. we are proud to help protect the national park of zakouma , one of the latest intact ecosystem on planet earth and the unesco wolrd heritage natural and cultural reserve of the ennedi plateau where the original 8’000 years old paintings depicting ancient chébé rituals are preserved, ensuring their preservation for many more generations to come.
